About Mary Ann Koenig

Mary Ann Koenig knows Vero well. She has bought, sold, rented and borrowed, refurbished and remodeled homes in Vero for the last 16 years. And she knows the virtues of living in this community. From elegant beach side restaurants to the best happy hours, and from equestrian trails to river exploration, Mary Ann has explored the variety of lifestyle opportunities available in Vero and appreciates their ability to satisfy every imagination.

As a writer and filmmaker, Mary Ann’s local involvement with the Veterans community is an on-going commitment to tell veterans stories and help ensure their honored place in our culture. Indian River County has one of the strongest veteran support systems in the country. With a large population of former military, the county, encompassing both Vero and Sebastian, has established numerous critical programs and services available to veterans through its Veterans Council branches. Over the years Mary Ann has volunteered in a variety of ways with the Veterans Council to help sustain that support. And she has worked closely with the nearby National Navy SEAL Museum in Ft. Pierce, Florida.

She directed, wrote and co-produced the feature-length documentary A Bond Unbroken, the story of Vietnam War-era Navy SEALs reunited with their combat interpreter 40 years after the war. She co-authored the memoir Cold War Navy SEAL with former SEAL James M. Hawes. It’s Jim’s story of his CIA-sponsored command of a mercenary Navy in the Congo in 1965. And, she’s written for national and regional publications including the L.A. Times, VAguard Magazine, Fire in the Hole, TCPalm, and Vertical Magazine.

She’s also lived and worked in several different countries including England, Israel, Mexico, Spain, and the Dominican Republic. She’s fluent in Spanish. She also lived in the far-away foreign lands of New York City and Los Angeles, where she spent a dozen years working in the music business.

She’s the happy mom of two English Cockers, Savannah and Barclay.
